With a history dating back to 1735, the Royal Institute of Art (Kungl. Konsthögskolan) is one of the oldest and most influential art colleges in Northern Europe, employing leading Swedish and international artists, theoreticians and architects as professors and lecturers.

The Royal Institute of Art’s architecture department—Mejan Arc—is a forum for urban issues which offers three courses at advanced level: two full-time courses in Architectural Conservation and Architecture, and a part-time course in Art & Architecture. The aim of Mejan Arc’s courses is to interact with society by creating relevant and tangible projects as well as creating professional networks that extend outside the academic realm. Projects that are initiated at Mejan Arc often become independent platforms that continue to develop on their own.

The position of Senior Lecturer in Art and Architecture entails responsibility for the courses and for planning the study programmes. This is done in dialogue with the Royal Institute of Art’s professors of Fine Arts and of Mejan Arc. The teaching is carried out through lectures, seminars and individual tuition. The position entails budget responsibility and keeping oneself informed of developments in related subject areas. The lectureship also includes participating in the Institute’s common work.

The position of Senior Lecturer in is a full-time post, which includes time for research. The appointment is for five years and may be extended by KKH without being re-advertised.
