California College of the Arts invites the public to the following spring events to see the remarkable work produced by our graduate and undergraduate students. Help us cheer on our soon-to-be alumni as they bring their CCA careers to a close and get ready to embark upon their exciting future endeavors.

Events include everything from exhibitions to symposia, lectures, and our Annual Fashion Show. All are open to the public, and all but the Fashion Show are free. The list of events is constantly being updated at cca.edu/2014.

April 16–30
27th Annual Barclay Simpson Award Exhibition
CCA Oakland campus, 5212 Broadway, Oliver Art Center
Hours: Monday–Friday 8:30am–6pm, Saturday–Sunday noon–6pm

A juried exhibition of award-winning artworks by MFA students in the Graduate Program in Fine Arts.


April 17–July 12
Many Places at Once exhibition
CCA Wattis Institute, 360 Kansas Street (between 16th and 17th Streets), San Francisco
Hours: Tuesday–Friday noon–7pm, Saturday noon–5pm

This is the thesis exhibition of the graduating students in CCA’s Graduate program in Curatorial Practice. The show reconsiders the place of artistic production in our era of creative industries and flexible labor. It features new commissions and existing works by seven international artists: Martin Soto Climent, Rana Hamadeh, Li Ran, Cinthia Marcelle, William Powhida, Real Time & Space, and Ian Wallace.

Humble Pie volume 10 launch party
CCA Oakland campus, 5212 Broadway, A2 Café
7:30pm

A release party for CCA’s undergraduate literary journal, Humble Pie, featuring writers and artists from the brand-new volume 10.


May 8
Double Exposure: year-end screening
CCA San Francisco campus, 1111 Eighth Street, Timken Lecture Hall

The undergrad Film senior show, plus screenings of work by MFA in Film students and sophomore and junior award winners.

Orbit: Interaction Design Senior Thesis Show

Industrial Design Senior Thesis show
Lime Lab, 135 Mississippi Street, San Francisco
6–10pm

Works by 37 graduating Industrial Design students. Students worked from the theme of “fear” and developed products and solutions that work toward social change and the future of design.


May 15–20
Baccalaureate exhibition

MFA Show/Graduate Thesis exhibitions

Annual Fashion Show

A juried runway show featuring works by our 19 graduating Fashion Design seniors. This will be the first-ever public event held in CCA’s newly acquired back lot!

 

About California College of the Arts
Founded in 1907, California College of the Arts (CCA) offers 22 undergraduate and 12 graduate programs in the areas of fine arts, architecture, design, and writing. The college offers BFA, BA, MFA, MA, MBA, BArch, MArch, and MAAD degrees. It has campuses in San Francisco and Oakland, and currently enrolls 1,950 full-time students. CCA students are encouraged to work in an interdisciplinary manner, undertaking projects and collaborations with students in other majors and engaging with outside communities.

Noted alumni include the artists Nathan Oliveira, Jules de Balincourt, Robert Arneson, Robert Bechtle, Viola Frey, and Peter Voulkos; the Oscar-winning filmmaker Audrey Marrs; the illustrator Tomie de Paola; the conceptual artists Harrell Fletcher, David Ireland, and Dennis Oppenheim; and the designers Lucille Tenazas, Michael Vanderbyl, and Gary Hutton.
