Painting The Cliché
What is the function of painting in our society? In her course, Ellen Harvey encourages students to question the meaning of contemporary painting practice. The course is intended for students who are interested in a lively, critical discussion of the possibilities of painting.

There Is So Much Still To Be Learned At Saturn
In this course art is considered as unfixed. Therefore the participants will refer to anything that appears in the studio during the three weeks—its arrangement, composition and ultimate archive. The aim of this course is to test the validity of painting today and its potential meaning beyond its original flat surface.

Youth
This course is concerned with youth and with the question of the significance of images in the lives of young people. Photographs have become a part of our everyday lives, and they play an important role in the construction of young people’s identity. Establishing direct on-site collaboration, Tobias Zielony concentrates specifically on the use of photography to show the life-worlds of young people.

Regular application
The Salzburg Summer Academy is open to anyone interested. The high quality of the courses is guaranteed by the requirement that all prospective participants must apply for acceptance. On the basis of the submitted dossier, the teaching artists select participants. The fees are between 440 euro and 1,160 euro, depending on the duration of the course. Students are entitled to a reduced fee. All incoming applications will be processed in the order received, according to vacancies in the courses.
