The Royal Institute of Art is a leading art institution of higher education located in Stockholm that offers both undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Fine Arts and Architecture with a student body of about 240. Professors in the visual arts include Donatella Bernardi, Peter Geschwind, Eberhard Höll, Nina Möntmann, Hinrich Sachs, Sigrid Sandström, Ann-Sofi Sidén, Sophie Tottie, and Olav Westphalen. In 2015, the Royal Institute of Art commences with two international visiting chairs: Peter Osborne and Catherine Malabou.

Applications are presently being accepted for the autumn 2015 term for:
Five-year full-time programme in Fine Arts (BA + MA, 300 ECTS-credits)
Two-year full-time MA programme in Fine Arts (120 ECTS-credits)

We offer a five-year programme in Fine Arts focused on individual artistic work. The programme leads to a Bachelor’s degree after three years of study and after an optional two years to a Master’s degree. It is possible to apply directly to the Master programme.

The study programmes are focused on the student’s own artistic practice. Students have every opportunity to tailor their own studies, selecting from a wide range of practical and theoretical courses, workshops and lectures. The institution offers an environment of critical and philosophical thinking with guest lecturers and artists of international acclaim.

The Royal Institute of Art has excellent studios and workshops ranging from printmaking and sculpture to interactive and digital media. The workshop teaching is delivered by professional artists. The campus is located in the centre of Stockholm, in close vicinity to international galleries, museums and city life.

Instruction is given in English, but on the BA-level some courses will be conducted in Swedish.

Studies in Fine Arts for Visiting Students (60 ECTS-credits) is intended for international or Swedish students who are presently enrolled for studies at a higher art institution abroad or for those having recently graduated from an art institution of higher education. It gives the opportunity for individual studies on a BA or MA level.

Professional development for practising artists
