Claudine and Jean-Marc Salomon announced that artist Anita Molinero is the inaugural recipient of The Salomon Foundation Residency Award. The award, which provides an artist from the Francophone community with a six-month residency in New York City, furthers the Foundation’s commitment to contemporary art practice and offers the recipient the opportunity to become a part of the city’s vibrant art scene. The award winner was announced at a cocktail event at the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) on April 24, 2015, where the four nominated artists and five jury members were present. The residency at ISCP will begin in June 2015.

The other three nominees for 2015 were: Philippe de Gobert (born 1946 in Brussels, Belgium), Marco Godinho (born 1978 in Salvaterra de Magos, Portugal; lives and works in Luxembourg) and Eva Nielsen (born 1983 in Lilas, France).

The award recipient is provided with a 350 square-foot work studio at ISCP in Brooklyn, New York and an 18,000 USD stipend to cover lodging and living expenses for six months. The jurors took into consideration the value and impact of a residency in New York on the recipient’s career when making their selection.

The five international jurors were: Ann Hindry, art historian, critic and curator of the Renault Collection of Modern Art; Elisabeth Couturier, journalist, art critic, writer and exhibition curator; Laurent Busine, Director of Mac’s, the Museum of Contemporary Art on the Grand Hornu site in Hainaut, Belgium; Enrico Lunghi, Director of MUDAM in Luxembourg; and, Jean-Marc Salomon.

About ISCP
The non-profit International Studio & Curatorial Program is one of contemporary art’s most prestigious residency centers. Since its founding in 1994 it has hosted over 1,900 artists and curators from some 62 countries, including the United States. In 2008 the program left Manhattan for a 2,000-square meter building dating from 1901 located in Brooklyn. The new premises include 35 studios, an exhibition gallery and a space for the planning and execution of projects. ISCP’s comprehensive program offers residents an enormous range of possibilities and opportunities.

Throughout their time at ISCP residents have individual studio spaces and are invited to take part in many internal and external activities, in addition to the program’s four core segments: Visiting Critics, Field Trips, Salons, and Open Studios. The Visiting Critics venture is the hallmark of the program, putting residents in contact with museum professionals, galleries, alternative spaces and publishers. Twice a year, in May and November, ISCP presents its four-day Open Studios. Presentations of work by the 35 resident artists and curators to the public and art professionals are accompanied by performances, panel discussions and exhibitions.

About the Claudine and Jean-Marc Salomon Foundation for Contemporary Art
The Claudine and Jean-Marc Salomon Foundation for Contemporary Art was established in 2001 to stimulate awareness of contemporary creation. Catering to a broad audience, the non-profit foundation based in Annecy, France, organizes exhibitions, lectures, and panels, and publishes books and monographs. The Foundation has exhibited the work of major contemporary artists including Gilbert & George, Jan Fabre, François Morellet, Wolfgang Laib, Roman Opalka, Niele Toroni, Peter Saul, Rona Pondick, Olafur Eliasson and Giuseppe Penone. It has also shown the works of emerging and mid-career artistes, including Philippe Cognée, Damien Cabannes and Samuel Rousseau.

The Foundation operates as a non-profit organization out of two venues: its headquarters and exhibitions spaces in the city of Annecy, and a sculpture park at the Château d’Arenthon. Both are in Haute-Savoie, in the French Alps, a short distance from Geneva, Switzerland. The Foundation moved into its new headquarters in 2014. Called La FabriC, it is housed in the old Salomon factory in Annecy and was conceived as an experimental space.
