The University of Oregon seeks an innovative, resourceful, and imaginative leader to serve as Dean for the School of Architecture and Allied Arts (A&AA), a unique and dynamic college encompassing Architecture, Art, Arts Administration, Digital Arts, History of Art and Architecture, Historic Preservation, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning Public Policy and Management, and Product Design. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer for the School and is responsible for developing and implementing academic strategies, recruiting faculty, students, and staff, and managing organizational and financial structures that promote excellence in research, creative practice, and education.

To advance the School’s distinctive research and teaching missions, we seek a Dean who is an energetic advocate and entrepreneurial fundraiser, as well as an engaged and thoughtful academic leader. One of six professional schools at the University of Oregon, A&AA has 100 tenure-related and approximately 80 non-tenure-related faculty, teaching in undergraduate and graduate degree programs that enroll more than 1500 majors and contribute to the broad liberal arts education of another 2000 students.

The Dean is expected to have achieved professional distinction in one or more of the fields within the School. The successful candidate will understand and be able to cultivate the possibilities associated with the School’s rich array of disciplines, while promoting collegiality and shared purpose. The Dean will work with university administration, faculty, alumni, and other external leaders to promote the national and international visibility of the School and to ensure that resources align with its potential.
