With a history reaching back more than 250 years, the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design is one of the largest Art Academies in Germany. With 18 courses of study in the fields of Fine Arts, Architecture, Design, and Art Related Studies-Conservation, it offers more than 900 students a broad spectrum of research and study possibilities. The Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design is committed to experimental open-mindedness in artistic work and openness in interdisciplinary dialogue. Taking up on this basic concept, it offers the post-graduate Weissenhof Programme of Fine Arts in order to especially encourage innovative projects and outstanding artists who hold a master’s degree or diploma.

Students who complete the postgraduate Weissenhof Programme of Fine Arts are awarded the academic degree Meisterschüler of the State Academy of Art and Design. This one-year programme, which represents an alternative to the so-called “third study cycle,” is oriented toward selected, especially talented artists who would like to complete a concrete project in the course of the programme and whose last artistic degree (e.g. MFA) was earned within the past three years. The programme should not only allow these students to complete the project in the context of an intensive, small work group, it also offers special lectures, workshops, excursions, and class discussions, which enables students to build a broad network and engage in an intensive artistic exchange even beyond the academy. In addition, students in the programme have access to the well-equipped workshops of the Stuttgart State Academy.

Applications for 2016/17 for the Weissenhof Programme of Fine Arts are being accepted until June 15. The prerequisite for an application is that the work is overseen by a professor at the Stuttgart State Academy. The working language is German, in individual cases also English.
