The case study day will unite two Subject Specialist Networks: the SSN for British Art held at Tate Britain and the SSN for Contemporary Art held at the Contemporary Art Society.

The day will focus on different aspects of displaying, collecting and preserving sound pieces. Discussing recent commissions (Katrina Palmer The Loss Adjusters for Artangel); and sound displays (Susan Philipsz at Duveen Galleries) we will discuss current theoretical, practical and institutional issues dealing with international artists working with sound as a sculptural medium, informing the networks about current practices in contemporary art.

The relationship between space and sound: the visual and non-visual; the sculpture and sounds; the architectural and the site specific.

The event is open to all but of particular interest for curators, conservators, artists, technicians, managers and registrars at all stages of their careers but that have an interest in non-traditional media formats.

Confirmed speakers include:
James Lingwood, Co-Director of Artangel
