Launched in 2011, the Institute for Curatorial Practice in Performance (ICPP) at Wesleyan University offers students a graduate-level education in curatorial approaches to developing and presenting contemporary dance, theater, and other time-based art. The program began as a ten-month Certificate Program, and since 2014 now offers a two-year low-residency Master’s Degree. ICPP is the first and only institute of its kind to offer a graduate degree in Performance Curation.

Curriculum
The program addresses performance curation from both theoretical and practical models, includes courses on diverse curatorial practices, social and cultural contexts, entrepreneurial strategies, off-site residencies and semester-long field placements, advanced level writing and research methods, and thesis advising.

Low-residency program
The program’s flexible schedule allows participants to continue their full-time job responsibilities while they study. Classes are held during three intensives over the year (two weeks in July, and two long weekends in November and March), coupled with reading prep at the beginning, and long distance course work in between. See the full course listing and 2017–18 academic calendar here. Please note that the Certificate option will not be offered in 2017–18.

Apply
Applications are now available online. The deadline for submitting application and financial aid materials is Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Curators, field professionals, and artists from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
