The Master Trajectory at the KABK and the Royal Conservatoire emphasizes the importance of the interaction between theory and practice. Both the theory and practice teachers approach the work and learning process of the students as unified. The focus lies on the development of the most suitable form for the research or matter; where it does not matter whether the planned form of the end result is a text, art work, composition piece or curatorial project. The teachers involved with the Master Artistic Research are all familiar with the integrated relationship between theory and practice through their own work.

The Master Artistic Research organizes a minumum of two group exhibitions each academic year, in which the artistic production of the students is centralized. The aim of these presentations is to give students the opportunity to gain professional experience and to increase the visibility of their work in the Dutch art and music field and beyond.
