Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University

The Zimmerli Art Museum's collections comprise a number of areas of focus and total 60,000 works of art. Particular strengths exist in Russian and Soviet art, French nineteenth-century art and American nineteenth- and twentieth-century art with a concentration on early-twentieth-century and contemporary prints. In addition, the museum houses a research library of rare books, journals and other documents that support the French collection.

The Education Department of the Zimmerli Art Museum conceives and implements programs in arts education, art history, literature, dance and music for visitors of all ages, from pre-school to senior citizens. These programs, such as lectures, studio classes, tours and concerts, are designed to empower the general public with knowledge that will make the museum's exhibitions and permanent collections more accessible and rewarding. In addition to its in-house public programs, the Education Department offers outreach presentations to schools, assisted living facilities, and other institutions throughout the state.
