PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE POSITION IN ENVIRONMENTAL ART

The Aalto Professor of Practice (PoP) system is intended especially for the field of art, design and architecture. The Professor of Practice position provides departments with the possibility to hire highly respected professionals opening new areas of teaching and research / artistic and professional work. The position also provides possibility for re-evaluation and dynamic development of the field. The candidate will be appointed for a fixed 5-year term. The position will begin during the year 2012.

 

The Professor of Practice is considered a professorial position with Aalto-level requirements and external evaluation. A doctoral degree or comparable artistic qualifications and significant expertise in teaching and/or research/artistic and professional work are required for obtaining a Professor of Practice position. Furthermore, Professors of Practice are required to be committed to developing the field through research/artistic and professional work and teaching activities.

 

DEPARTMENT OF ART

The tasks of the Department of Art are research into contemporary art and art education and the provision of research-based graduate and post-graduate training of art pedagogues and professionals and experts in contemporary art. Among the core tasks of the department are high-quality artistic and art pedagogical activities that have both national and international effectiveness on all levels of society. The Department of Art and Media Pori (pori.aalto.fi/en) has been affiliated to the Department of Art in 1st January 2012.

 

The Professor of Environmental art is intended for an artist who would excel as a Professor of Environmental Art. The candidate is expected to have experience in academic level teaching in environmental art field and in planning MA-level curriculum. Own research activities are highly respected. The Professor of Environmental Art should also have willingness to co-operate with landscape-architects, develop art-based environmental education and participate in establishing a bio-art laboratory in the department.
