California College of the Arts invites the public to the following spring events to see the remarkable work produced by our graduate and undergraduate students. Help us cheer on our soon-to-be alumni as they bring their CCA careers to a close and get ready to embark upon their exciting future endeavors.

Events include everything from exhibitions to symposia, lectures, and our Annual Fashion Show. All but the Fashion Show are free, and all are open to the public. The list of events is constantly being updated at cca.edu/upstart. Unless otherwise noted, all events take place at CCA’s San Francisco campus, 1111 Eighth Street (at 16th and Wisconsin).


Spring Graphic Novel Workshop Exhibition
April 15–27, 8 am–close
CCA Oakland campus, 5212 Broadway, A2 Cafe

From rough layouts to carefully penciled and inked pages, the work reveals the process of creating compelling stories in the visually dynamic comic-book medium.

Words and Places: Etel Adnan Exhibition
April 17–June 29, Tuesday–Friday 12–7pm, Saturday 12–5pm
CCA Wattis Institute, 360 Kansas Street (between 16th and 17th Streets), San Francisco

The graduating students in the Graduate Program in Curatorial Practice present the first-ever large-scale institutional exhibition devoted to the Lebanese writer, poet, and painter Etel Adnan.

26th Annual Barclay Simpson Award Exhibition

Interior Design reviews take place May 1, and Architecture on May 3–5. Please note that there are no events May 2.

Project Kino: Senior Film Screening

Narrative film, experimental film, music videos, and a sound piece by senior Film students

Illustration Spring Thesis Exhibition

Humble Pie Volume 8 Launch Party

Cinesthesia: An Encounter in Painting and Film

An installation in which students present explorations that tinker with boundaries—it showcases work from the Encounters in Painting course taught by Lynn Marie Kirby and Kim Anno.

About California College of the Arts
Founded in 1907, California College of the Arts (CCA) offers 22 undergraduate and 11 graduate programs in the areas of fine arts, architecture, design, and writing. The college offers BFA, BA, MFA, MA, MBA, BArch, MArch, MAAD, and MAUDL degrees. It has campuses in San Francisco and Oakland, and currently enrolls 1,950 full-time students. CCA students are encouraged to work in an interdisciplinary manner, undertaking projects and collaborations with students in other majors and engaging with outside communities.

Noted alumni include the artists Nathan Oliveira, Jules de Balincourt, Robert Arneson, Robert Bechtle, Viola Frey, and Peter Voulkos; the Oscar-winning filmmaker Audrey Marrs; the illustrator Tomie de Paola; the conceptual artists Harrell Fletcher, David Ireland, and Dennis Oppenheim; and the designers Lucille Tenazas, Michael Vanderbyl, and Gary Hutton.
